CHILDREN'S STORIES

                                                              Alphabet*                                        Colours*                                Thunderstorms*

         *(excerpts)
Some letters are so very BIG
Some others are not so
You use them in vocabulary
That’s all the words you know

The letter “A” is first in line
It starts the Alphabet
Apple, Ant and Abigail
And even Alouette

B” comes next in line you see
It follows A right there
Blue banana, big bouncing ball
Backpack on a bear

C” follows B, it’s number three
Here is how it’s used
Caged cactus cries, cats climb a cliff
Caterpillars in canoes

A-B-C and then comes “D
Most useful when you spell
A dozen dogs with droopy drawers
Dancing in a dell

E” sounds a lot like D and C
And even B you know
Exercising elephants exert themselves
Eating eggs while enjoying a show
“Oh Max!” said Ian
“I’m glad you came
Come look at what I found
A purple rose
And a spring of plaid
Coming right out of the ground!”

Max looked around
From right to left
His eyes were opened wide
At a wonderful world
Of wonderful colours
“Unbelievable!” is what he cried

They followed a path
Of black and white
With stripes like zebra skin
Past peach coloured trees
With light blue leaves
And green eyes that looked out from within

There’s a silver sun
Up in the sky
There’s rock of orange and red
In a golden field
By the white carrot patch
A yellow cow slowly raised it’s head
“Think of the lightning
As camera bulbs popping
Capturing moments in time
Forever imprinted
Or so it’s been hinted
On the pages in the back of my mind

The thunder boom noises
As loud as they are
Are just sounds, and will do you no harm
Like a tympani roll
Or when you bang on a bowl
It’s loud but should cause no alarm

Then Max looked at Ian
From under the covers
He looked Ian straight in the eye
“Of course you are right!
There’s no need for fright
That’s the truth, no kidding, no lie”

Together they sat
By Ian’s bedroom window
And watched the storm blow by
Lightning subsided
Raindrops all dried up
The dark clouds vacated the sky

LYRICS

Aqua Terra Electrique                            Paranoia                                          Pressure                                                  DNA

In churning wakes as light recedes
Guiding lights of emerald green
And red that seems to bleed

Pulled away in strange effect
By force of nature, disconnect
No warning left to heed

Slipped so quickly from my gaze
Engulfed and swallowed by the haze
Our life became unfurled

Across the flats with careful haste
We broke to land and then we faced
Electric Water World
Paranoia all around me
Disarray in front and back
Cadillacs and Chevy Blazers
Mounting their attack

Jagged glass and dirty pin
Protruding from the ground
Taking steps so lightly
That they barely touch the ground

Hurried siren from afar
A child screams in pain
Insanity surrounds us all
Some things you can’t explain

Broken as a wafer is
And served up to the masses
Hold your breath and hold your thoughts
Until the feeling passes
When you feel the force applied
From the front or back or side
Tension’s mounting all around

All your muscles are contract
And the pain is so exact
Anxiety levels have abound

The knot you feel is in your neck
It makes you feel just like a wreck
Your heart begins to pound

Your sweaty brow begins to drench
Your jaw and molars start to clench
Release from pressure is not found

Life is full of pressure
You can feel it start to grow
You need to vent the pressure
It fills you from your head to toe
Can you sense the pressure
Cause it’s all about to blow
From the pressure

Feel your head about to pop
Can you see it from the top
Vessels in your neck will burst

Screams that creep up in your throat
As your eyes dart all about
If you don’t release it first
Can you sense the pressure

Do your temples feel the squeeze
Like your brain is full of bees
A swarm around the nest

Pressure’s bearing down on you
Feeling that your time is through
A tightness 'cross your chest
Scientists in their loose white coats
Hold onto the slightest hope
Blend deoxyribonucleic acid streams
Setting the stage for apocalyptic scenes

Put together like tinker toy tailors
Holding it captive like jungle gym jailers
Watch as the spiraling helix gets longer
Making them bigger, prettier, stronger

Hypodermically injected
Nonconformity rejected
Within the soup of life’s been stirred
A mix of mind and soul I’ve heard

Matching elements, differences divided
Their future’s determined without being guided
Choices removed from their everyday functions
No courting, no dancing, no afternoon luncheons

And the world is just what we’ve chosen to make it
Without even knowing we just might forsake it
Stretching our ethics far beyond reason
It’s so hard to know what we really believe in
